Yes, a good idea is to make as much ice as possible. Put some in the fridge to keep things cool, just before the power goes out and keep some in the freezer. If you're lucky enough to have an ice maker, be sure to empty it, because the ice will likely turn to a glob tomorrow.

Any other tips from you expats, or folks who are used to long power outages would be great!

Oh, and stock up on the tequila!
