When we renewed our IMSS health insurance at the new place in Manzanillo last month (see my post a couple days ago for directions), it was super simple. After taking a number and being called just a few minutes later, we showed them our IMSS paper booklets ("cartilla") so they could find us in the computer. They said that last year's renewal receipt would have worked also. You may want to remind them that you want to keep your same clinic (#169 if you're using the one between Jaluco and Cihuatlan.) She typed and processed for a few minutes, then gave us a form to take to the Banamex across the boulevard to pay (a little more than last year.) Remember to stop at the Guadalajara drugstore on the way back to photocopy your payment receipt (front & back), then back to IMSS to take another number for a quick wait again. Hand her the payment receipt, she hands us a renewal receipt and that's it! They didn't ask us for photos, immigration docs, phone bills, etc. After you renew you're supposed to take the renewal receipt to your clinic for some further processing (no appointment needed.) Anyone else have any different experience?
