Dog attack help!!

My name is Cheryl my dogs name is Gibson ,she is a large friendly blond dog you may have seen on the beach.Yesterday around 130 I was walking towards Fiesta Mexicana and 3 large Shepards ran towards Gibson and started a pack like attack....The large female was biting her head area while the two smaller males were getting her from behind.Some how I managed to break up this vicious attack.Two police on motor bikes came by and went to find the dog owners.They came back and told me to go to police station.The owners were there husband and wife Mexican couple.I was shocked when the police officer Hugo said"give us the word and we will take them to Vallarta and put them down.I really was shocked that this was my choice,at this point I did not know this was not there first attack. Gibson spent the afternoon at the vet having her wounds treated.I am now thinking clearly and have had some advice from a vet and some dog owners.This will happen again there is no way to rehabilitating these dogs. So who ever wants to meet me at the police station at 12 please do,I am willing to stand alone on this issue ,but am really hoping for community support .I spoke with the police again this morning they said people are afraid of revenge from this couple.If we stood together They feel it would be better...hoping to see you there if you are concerned about this issue.
