http://www.tiocorpinsurance.com/index.cfm/driving-in-mexico/other-vehicles-you-can-import-in-2013/ There is an amparo in effect for about a year or more that will allow a lot of cars to be repatriated to Mexico that don't fit the normal rules. TioCorp has been a reputable company on Lake Chapala for over 25 years. They just got a "test" car made in Japan (not a NAFTA car) repatriated and registered in Jalisco last January 9th. Contact them. Expect to pay about $2,000 USD, which is a lot less than others who may be of dubious background are charging. We will be going through this ourselves next Sept/Oct when our FM2's are up for renewal. Our Honda CR-V made in Japan should be fine to repatriate. Good luck. |
