Looking for a good oceanfront rental

Ourselves and another couple spent a week in La Manzanilla a few months back and we all agreed that this is the beach we want to make our regular one. However, the place we rented, while very well located and nicely open and spacious, had some serious drawbacks relating to management. It was very dirty, we had to deal with a cockroach infestation and the refrigerator was shot. It was advertised with air conditioning that had obviously not worked for years. It was really a shame as otherwise, it would have been the perfect place to return to. We just didn't get a sense that the elderly owner was on top of things or likely to be so in the future. While there, we tried to look at a few other places on the beach but it was difficult as all were full. Some seemed well managed and clean but "tunnel" like, dark and with only very small patios facing the beach. It looked like there might some more open places further up (north) along the beach from the crocodile farm up, but we were unable to see any of them or even find out which were rentals. So if any of you could point us in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
