Daniel, Eloquent and insightful. I think no one has added to this thread for fear of detracting from your posting. So, let me respectfully add my post with that at the forefront of my mind. Sadly, we were unable to be in La Manz for Semana Santa this year. I had a coworker approach me about my "place" in Mexico -- I have a self-imposed restriction about talking to people I know about La Manz -- would I want this person living next door to me? would they "add" to the "community"? do they comprehend/respect the concept of being a minority in another country? Anyway, there they were (at least 1/2 the family) with their "pasty white" skin in one of Judy's pix -- the "pasty white" and language, I think, is all that differentiates them from our Mexican hosts.
