For those who would like a special experience, go visit the Magic Town of Comala. The town is minutes away from Colima, and is charming, peaceful and unpretentious. I highly recommend a stay at Jupiter's bed and breakfast - he and his family are warm and welcoming hosts, and the breakfasts are to die for. He is also offers a number of fascinating tours of the area around Colima, including a hike up to the volcano.
