Well, I don't know how we'll ever pin down the location of that ear-splittingly loud bolt out of the blue, because it sounded 10 yards from us, too! It took a while to start raining after the midnight lightning bolt, but it came down pretty good for quite a while. We got 0.74" so far. A nice cool-down too. The GOES IR loop shows a big blob pretty much anchored over us for the last few hours, and it's actually still not gone out of our neighborhood yet. It is on the decline though: http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/epac/flash-avn.html Our blob is the only visible weather in Mexico this morning. Of the two tropical storms that were out west and southwest of Baja, Octave came ashore on Baja a couple days ago and is now gone, and Priscilla has weakened down to a depression and is wandering ever farther westward. Nothing else developing in the breeding grounds for now. |
