I've been wanting to tell the story of this lovely Guadalajara couple who opened a new restaurant and 'boutique hotel' on our beach. For many years, Roberto's father owned a house on the beach, between the hotel caído (ruined hotel) and Boca de Iguanas. Roberto inherited the property a few years ago. After having some troubled financial times, he and Yvette realized they could turn it into a business. A loan from the Mexican government helped them renovate and put in beautiful palapas, six rooms, and a restaurant, all designed around a pool and landcaped grounds. Greg, a wonderful chef from Toronto, helped create a great menu, and they are building their clientele. Roberto and Yvette have three grown sons (all born in the U.S.A.) that love spending time there too. A big thank-you for being such friendly hosts, and for building such a beautiful addition to our beach! Chantli Mare Restaurant is open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
