Surge Protection

Your right Carol .... We were here when the lightning struck near your house. Scary!

Surge protection here in LA Manz is essential. Keep in mind that you should probably buy a good quality surge protector. Check the Joules Rating .... the higher the better. I'm not an electrician, but I believe that your house needs to be properly grounded. Many houses here are not.

Besides lightning, Mexican power power grids have wild fluxuations in voltage. This is harmful to many appliances. Many people have voltage regulators which you plug things like computers into. The regulator automatically keeps your line voltage at 120 volts, regardless of drops or spikes in the voltage coming into your house. We bought ours at Walmart for about 500 pesos.

It is a good idea to unplug everything when you go away. Many appliances, even when they are off, continue to draw power, which you pay for.

Unplugging vulnerable appliances when there are electrical storms is a 100% guarantee against damage.
