During the first year of the new categories, those of us with a 4 (final renewal, fifth year) on the back of our current FM3 or FM2 were "grandfathered in" and did not have to show bank statements, comprabantes or anything else--just new photos and the usual fingerprinting--to become permanent residents. This is probably because we were previously on a five-year system, which is now a four-year system, and nothing else could be done with us. The rest of you are not so lucky.
