4 wheeler/golf cart/transportation around town.

I have a question about transportation in town. Since I have an injury, I will not be able to walk from my house to the beach as I have in the past. Any ideas on how to get around? I have thought of renting a 4 wheeler or golf cart, but don't even know if they are available. I could rent a car but that is quite pricey. I am also aware of the taxi service and not sure if the cabs drivers want to make a pick up that is only a 3 minute drive from our rental to the beach. i also know that they are not always around, especially in the afternoons. Any ideas? Thanks for any help you can give me.
