Hi Folks; These are recent Mac OS X versions: 10.5 Leopard 10.6 Snow Leopard 10.7 Lion 10.8 Mountain Lion 10.9 Mavericks Apple in THEIR best interests have included CDs with their computers up until 10.9. All previous versions of OS X were crippled to work only on the family of cpu's they were sold with, so even if your computer will support the OS X version you wish to borrow, it may not install. Only the retail versions of OS X are universally installable on the products that support that version. Another note: if you haven't already installed it, Mavericks has taken a different approach to the security of your data and I recommend that you DO NOT install it until you are aware of the consequences. Most people don't give a damn about keeping their personal data secure, so just do as Apple tells you. I did, then regretted it until I had built secure work arounds.
