First, I like the way this thread has progressed with each person expressing their feelings honestly and in a civil manner. This afternoon I had a lengthy conversation with someone who knows the details of this situation. The family involved does have family in a town nearby but there is not a sustainable life there for them. There is a father for the family unit who is struggling with a drug problem and is currently in jail. I don't think being a visitor on a foreign soil has much to do with this. When you see someone who needs help and you feel called to do something about it hopefully you respond. What you look for you find, be that innocence or guilt.
