We took the trip many years ago. We always loved the ride down through many types of terraine, amazing desert scenes meeting the ocean. the ferry was an experience for sure. We ended up on the deck with the kids and because of inexperience we were on the windward side, cold! The lee side was full. the salon we could not go in for the smell of vomit and overflowing toilets, that was the worst parts. Otherwise, we enjoyed the spontaneous music and singing on deck and the arrival in Mazatlan. I'd say bring a blanket and some food.
