Finally some exciting weather action last night! I recorded 1.90" / 48mm of rain overnight, mostly in a couple hours from 7-9pm. LOTS of lightning, including at least 6 bolts striking within a couple hundred yards/meters from my house. I was glad I was inside with my electronics unplugged! I only lost power for a half hour around 8pm. (The power has been very robust in my neighborhood this summer.)

It's been a week since the last rain, so this was much appreciated. The storm really cooled us down too: this morning's low temperature of 78.1°F / 25.6°C was the coolest since July 3.

Even with last night's rain, this August is drier than normal. We got 2.72" / 69mm so far this month, but the 2004-2013 average August rainfall is 9.09" / 231mm. We've got some catching up to do...
