Since yesterday Marie has beaten the predicted strengthening and is now a major Category 4 hurricane with winds of 135 MPH. It might get close to Cat 5 in the next day or so before it starts to weaken because of moving into cooler water and drier air. Luckily it is sticking to its predicted track and there are no coastal watches or warnings. The only warning in the NHC Public Advisory is the same one about dangerous surf, for another day or so. We've received just some light to moderate brief rain showers; nothing damaging: Thursday we got 0.72", Fri was 0.12", Sat was 0.66", and today is 0.28" so far. Storm total: 1.78" / 45mm, so far. I'm sure there is still a good chance of further rains even though Marie has passed her point of closest approach to La Manz (the center is over 300 miles away now.)
