ATMs

The signs posted beside each of the ATMs at Banamex in Melaque read something like this:
US, French, & Canadian cards may have a problem. These machines are "being investigated" and should be operational by late Monday or Tuesday.
Rumour in the lineup has it that the same situation exists at the Banamex in Cihuatlan.

The rumour is wrong - the Banamex ATM in Cihuatlan worked fine yesterday. Neither Melaque or Barra ATM's did.

Just returned from Banamex in Melaque... no problems getting my money with a Canadian card.... and... NO line ups! Sweet

Hi Rhema ........ The other bank in Barra lost their ATM when someone removed it from the wall and stole it. It was nexst to the police station. It was never replaced.

Try 2 or 3 quick slides in and out with your non-chip card and don't wait for instructions. With luck you'll be asked for your PIN

Used all three of my cards this morning (Thursday) and worked as slick as - well you know. All Canadian chip cards. I did see some people having problems but on further observation realized they weren't following instructions. When I helped them out - all went well. The attendant told me both Melaque machines were working fine. Upon further discussion she confirmed that some people were not using them correctly. I got the feeling she was fed up with trying to help everyone. Just me though and the vibe I got. Regardless, I say they work fine.

Just back from using the ATM in Melaque and no problems using my Canadian bank card.
