I think Louise wants to know the name of the old hotel in ruins on the beach, and she would like to know what happened to it

An earthquake destroyed it.

Interesting. The story I was told is that a boiler or something exploded and a few people were killed. After that it was shut down and apparently it happened before the earthquake. I remember walking the beach when it was open in the late 70's. Luxurious by the standards of that time and like the hotel at El Tecuan, very few guests, if any.

My Spanish teacher, who has lived here all his life told me it was an explosion of the boiler that did some structural damage and the owners abandoned it. Over the years, it has been picked clean - right down to the wiring!

And now, I have to figure out how to say that in Spanish!

For what i know......The hotel had a boiler explosion. which injured and maimed some workers and also did structural damage.
The owners did not have insurance...(mexico after all) so they walked away.....
Then vandalism and the earthquake did the rest.
In 2010 the ruins were used for disaster rescue exercises by the bomberos from all over mexico, with dogs, helicopters.........
The only guests then were the dummies hidden under the rubble.
