Several people called me asking if I have Internet, I do but many don't.

We have internet but our phone is dead? Our internet was off and on for days , now no phone. We took,the phone the phone to the cafe and it worked fine. Any ideas? Thanks, MandD

I read online that it's possible for the internet to work but the phone not to if 1 wire to your place either has a bad connection or is broken somewhere. The phone needs 2 wires but internet needs only 1 wire. Don't know if this is true....just reading the responses online.
We had this problem a couple times last year and phoned (cell phone) and it was repaired fairly quickly. Today our internet was out for a few hours. We phoned Telmex. They said it could take up to 72 hrs. to repair, but it was up and running by the time we got home....a couple hours after the call to them.
