Manzanillo Power Plant smoke stacks

Posted by Robert on April 23, 2014, 2:41 pm

Can someone in the forum please tell me if the power plant smoke stacks are still belching out their rancid pollution? We want to book a trip there for several months next winter 2015. My wife has a lung condition and that's why I ask. Thanks for any consideration to my request.

Thank you for the redirection and the link Mr. Sparks. I stand corrected. Happy holidays.

The women's group in Manzanillo visited the plant when two of the towers (or whatever they are called) had been changed over. Then, had the woman in who was heading up the project a month or two later.

As I recall, the word was that they had a fairly big stash of diesel to burn before all three would be exclusively using natural gas.

Not sure what happened after that and can't remember whether this was last year or the year before.

In any event it would seem like they can choose between fuels and price might be a consideration.

Not sure what that would mean for your wife.

I can always recommend Cuastecomates, La Manzanilla and the Barra environs in declining order of auto traffic and, of course, bungalows like Casa Maguey are perfect, because they get a continuous sea breeze.

A good person to contact in Manzanillo who always has current information is Candy King. You can Google her.

Thanks Carol. I will be calling Candy at her work at the Coldwell Banker real estate office. I prefer the Barra de Navidad area myself.
Robert.

All those small towns north of Manzanillo get the grey line at sunset level ..I would suggest Davidson Collins for more info ....

When they burn crops like cane especially. That is certainly not 1/2 the time. Someone is blowing smoke here we think

My observation of the past 6 years: Burning vegetation increases in April at the end of the dry season and in advance of the wet season. Which is now.
