VIN #'s for US Vehicles

okay....got a stupid question. We've heard that some vehicles can't be plated when bringing from the US to Mexico. What is the criteria...does anyone know???

I think the vehicle has to be made in the US or Canada. If the VIN # begins with a J in means made in Japan and can't be legalized.

I was told by a Portland car saleman the vin has to start with a1,2,3,4,or5.take care see yall in nov.
