Rain report

We had a nice rainfall overnight, with just a little thunder at the beginning yesterday evening. 1.24" since last evening.

The cause appears to be more of that "diffluence aloft" which enhances convection (thunderstorms). There is also a tropical wave ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_wave ) passing us today which adds even more thunderstorm triggering potential. Excerpt from NHC Tropical Weather Discussion ( http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATWDEP+shtml/ ): "A TROPICAL WAVE WAS ANALYZED WITH A TILT FROM NE TO SW FROM 18N106W TO 12N109W AS CAPTURED BY A 0412 UTC ASCAT SCATTEROMETER PASS WHICH SHOWED A WIND SHIFT AT THE SURFACE. THIS WAVE IS MOVING AT 15 KT. A CLUSTER OF SCATTERED MODERATE ISOLATED STRONG CONVECTION THAT MAY BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE WAVE IS FROM 18N TO 20N E OF 106W. SCATTERED SHOWERS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE WITHIN 180 NM EITHER SIDE OF THE AXIS." (The bold fonts are our area.)

Right now the rainclouds seem to be clearing up for the rest of the morning, but there's still a good chance of more rain later today and tonight.

PS, no tropical storm formation expected until maybe late this weekend.
