Big waves

Last evening when we were sitting at the beach bar some waves roared under
our chairs and up to the brick patio by the office.
About an hour ago a big wave washed all the way up to the office doors
so I have put up some boards to keep that from happening again. The
next high tide is at 10 pm and should be a little higher, but some are
saying that the surf is at its peak for this storm.
I put up the cheapo web cam again for those who care

Thanks for persevering Daniel.
I only had to watch for a few minutes to relax, feel the stress melt away and now I think I'll lie down for a wee nap.

Your welcome. It was fun sitting out at the beach bar with the occasional
ocean screaming under your chair, sometimes knocking things off the
beach bar. One would think that it would be the big waves that would produce
that event, but the maximum height is reached when regular sized waves combine.
It's almost impossible to predict, the last one of the evening got everyone wet.
Really a fun evening, one of those where you feel you are on the point of the
spear of time itself, very present moment. Strange how those moments spring up
seemingly from nowhere, all of a sudden your alive and its happening and so fun.
Boredom as a goal......the breeding ground of original.

Yes...older I get, the more I enjoy the unplanned moments the most. I am intrigued by your statement "Boredom as a goal....the breeding ground of original." Do you mean that the emptiness of boredom provides something to fill? I am yearning for the porch beside your nightly gathering place. I'll be back mid-November through mid-January. Hoping the waves don't wash it away!

Edit:

"Do you mean that the emptiness of boredom provides something to fill"?

The short answer is seemingly yes, a place to fill.

While I answered best I could (below) I don’t feel I really explained the heart of
my statement (I got too metaphysical) and your question has prompted me to
try and expand on it.

Basically when you are bored you are in a place where you don’t have anything you have (or want)
to do (a real luxury), that place gives you opportunity to come up with something original
to occupy that time. Boredom is the space where originality is most likely to happen, something
different than what you already had to choose from, including choosing to do nothing.

----------------

more accurately stated as perhaps this or perhaps that or perhaps nothing.

being comfortable when no one is talking

not fearing the "blank slate"

leaving space for what is already there (everything) to appear

I hope the waves don't wash it away as well! See you in November Judy.

This morning half of the beach bar is missing. Were you able to save it Daniel or did the waves during the night take it?

Daniel, I have a question, what about the sound of the big waves crashing? I notice a sliding volume control in the lower right of the screen but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Is the absence of sound a problem at my end or is it something else?

I apologize if this was addressed in an earlier posting that I missed.

Thanks again for your efforts with the web cam.

I love this camera, D! I can hear the surf way back here by the rock quarry, and now I can watch it on your web cam. Saves me a trip into town.

I agree with you one hundred percent. That's part of why I come to La Manzanilla. Fewer "have to's" and fewer distractions. Only the sea--and me. And a few others such as watching the daily collection at Daniel's from next door! I like being in a place where the action passes but I don't necessarily have to be part of it. "My" porch is perfect for that, although as I get to know more people there, there is an increasing temptation to join in the fun...Judy

P.S. For some reason I couldn't get your sunset feed last night. Would being in Mexico have anything to do with this? Surely not. That isn't too logical. I live in the Lake Chapala area.

Yahooooo! I see leaves rustling, hammock rope, an empty chair that suggests I'm sitting in it and watching the waves break onto the sand. I bird comes by. Way cool; what a joy. Thank you so much.

I love looking at this. I keep wondering if we are taking on water living so close to you in our Casa.. Fingers crossed. I would love to see this on my ipad. Flash player is a PITA when not on the right device. I could sit and look at that beach view all day longing to be home. Soon, real soon we will be looking at the real thing. Enjoy Daniel. Thanks for all your work on this.

The cam is not on all the time (yet) do you see the test pattern (below)?

Can you get any of the cams on this page to work?

http://www.earthcam.com/

Are you using Internet Explorer or another browser?

Are you on an ipad? Judy B knows about those.

Support for ipad and cell phones should be working in about a week or so.

I did a search using - earthcam app for ipad

http://www.google.com.mx/search?hl=en-MX&source=hp&q=earthcam+app+for+ipad&btnG=Google+Search&gbv=1

Never having used an ipad I have to refer to others who have.
