Those waves were tough yesterday...tried twice to get through them and swim to the buoy. Couldn't.

Dean:

Normally, I go out at 8:30 or so, and then again around 1:00 p.m. I usually camp at Pedro's or Sra. Aceves.

But when it's this big, I just have to take a pass.

Would enjoy your company when it gets a little mellower.

I tried to go out for my afternoon session. All of the beach eateries are closed because of the surf and high tides.

I thought that maybe I could make it to the buoy if I timed the waves right. I was wrong.

With apologies to Dire Straits "The man's too big, the man's too strong."

Dean:

I'm sorry that I did not check out the message board this morning. Pedro came by to check up on me earlier as I had some version of the turistas yesterday.

Pedro said the ocean was calm, and I immediately put on my suit and rash guard.

Pedro needs to learn the nuance of "calm" and "calmer"

As you know, the sand has disappeared, not only on the beach but in the first 20 yards or so of the shorebreak. While last week it was a challenge to get past the breakers, not it's a chore just to get past the shorebreak.

But, I made it out, and came back in with pebbles and rocks in my swimsuit. I think I'll do it again this afternoon, around 2:00 or so.
