Hello Anne, I just got a crazy email saying it was from you. Can you confirm where you are right now? And for all of you in La Manzanilla who know Anne Adams, have you seen her recently?

I thought so too Daniel, but she does travel a lot. I just talked with her a few days ago and she didn't mention a trip to Turkey...lol...she needs to know her email account has been spammed.

Well I just got notice from a friend that I was HACKED too, for anyone who has my email address, I'm home...crap, now what? do I have to change my email address?

no, she just said she received a scam email and I have been hacked, but it also came with personal information from her...I did respond by asking her what country I'm in..so I guess that anyone who opens the email will be hacked?

I am not going to take the time to research it but there are possibilities
other than your being hacked. Like you sent an email to Anne with her email
address in the CC instead of using the BCC as should be done. The scammers
could use combinations of email addresses in random fashion? If I were you
I would do some research on it before changing my email account. Perhaps just
chaning your password.

OK, thanks, I'll look into it. Gary and I both opened the emails from Anne. We haven't CC to anyone. Did you open it too? If so, I'll make sure not to open it. Now just letting my friends know not to open anything from me without checking first...via text message Thanks again.

Probably not hacked ..... they just need a list of email addresses of people that might know each other. Probably a way to download all the email addresses from this message board

I got the same scam 3 or4 days ago but mine was from Mary Mayberry. Looks like a lot of our folks went to Turkey this Summer

Thank you to everyone who alerted me about the "turkey" spam email from mom. sounds like a processed hot dog. haha. anyways, surprisingly, I did NOT get the email from her - but she has changed her password and we email without problems!

Hello.
I Hope you get this on time, I made a trip to (Turkey) and had my bag stolen from me with my passport and personal effects therein. The embassy has just issued me a temporary passport but I have to pay for a ticket and settle my hotel bills with the Manager.
I have made contact with my bank but it would take me 3-5 working days to access funds in my account, the bad news is my flight will be leaving very soon but I am having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let me leave until I settle the bills, I need your help/LOAN financially and I promise to make the refund once I get back home, you are my last resort and hope, Please let me know if I can count on you and I need you to keep checking your email because it's the only way I can reach you.

Same letter I got from "Anne"... hahaha what a dope I am for even thinking this could be legitimate. But in my defense, I at least asked around...I sent no money...but I did get hacked from it...after the fact, I clicked on the Anne Adams email address and it was someone else. I tried to click on the name before opening it but it didn't give me any information of the true sender.

I too received the spam email, allegedly from Anne, and immediately suspected a scam. I did not reply. It reminded me of those annoying solicitations usually coming out of Nigeria. It also reminded me of the telephone scam in Mexico reported previously on this message board. If you believe your email account has been hacked into immediately change your password. Last I heard from Anne I believe she was in Brazil...
