Does anybody know what the cost of a visa for a Mexican is ? My wife is considering getting one so she can visit our oldest daughter who lives in the US.She has been told that to go to the US it is roughly 8000 pesos and for Canada it is 4000 pesos.I find this very confusing shouldn't the visa be the same cost regardless of the country or is this just somebody in Gaud lining their pockets ? Thanks for your help .

The cost of a US visa is presently 2,080 pesos. First your wife needs a passport. Then you can fill out the form online, pay at Banamex in Melaque, and then make the appointment. You can email me for more information if you're interested. I've filled out the forms many times.
Every country has their own rules about visas and how much they cost.

Go to www.state.gov and click on the travel label. That will bring up various topics including visas. There you,ll find all the information you're looking for. It's reasonably painless, even if somewhat time consuming.

I find it ridiculous that the US and Canadian Governments charge for a visitor's visa. If the Mexican Government charged us gringos for that kind of fee in equivalent dollars there would be an outcry. Does anyone know the reasoning behind this?

Yes, Mexico wants visitors from the U.S. and Canada. I don't know Canada's position, but I do know that la migra in my part of the U.S., California, is definitely adverse to Mexican's trying to enter. The U.S. has become irrationally concerned with Mexican immigration. I have no knowledge of terrorist acts performed by Mexicans against Americans, but I think it is easier for a Saudi Arabian to enter the country than someone from Mexico. (I don't remember anyone from Mexico involved in 9-11. but several from Saudi Arabia). Go figure.

When I lived in California, maybe 40% of my town was of Mexican heritage. I have a Mexican daughter in law, and three grandchildren that are wholly or partly Mexican.

I just don't get it.

For Mexicans, the cost of a tourist visa is $100 Canadian. This is the same fee charged for all those who require visas, which most countries in the world.
