Song: To the Robber

Posted by Linda Koenig on October 6, 2014, 11:32 am

Sing in the Irish tradition

Song: To the Robber

When ya steal here I don't like it so much

-except you help me think how to make the place secure

When ya help yourself to my money I don't like it so much

-except to know to keep my money elsewhere

If ya use Meth you'll surely go astray

That stuff's made of rat poison drain cleaner and such

You've got to get a hold of yourself

Do the right thing at all times

You've got to work your ass off double time

When you're in a hole

So here's to you I raise my glass

For your future to be brighter

And stay away from the stealing game

That's not so good for ya

Linda:

I'm sorry you got robbed, but a methamphetamine addict has no goal other than not to come down.

Yes, you should always keep your valuables hidden, doors locked, etc.

Meth is the most vicious drug of them all, and users are completely unable to behave appropriately. They have to stay "up".

The Truth is the Truth. Why should people not be aware of what is going on......"Know the truth and the truth will set you free". Why lie?

You are right Jose! It is bad for business. But as David says, It's the truth! I post the information for safety's sake. To warn others that burglaries happen here too as well as everywhere else. My hope is that others will read this and by all means stop potential house break-ins.

Linda...you did nothing wrong to have to defend yourself. You did a service to others. Things happen, and no matter where, it's good you put it the way you did, and,in such a creative way too. As for the other nay-sayers...I'm glad there's people like you. It's important to keep the community aware to never to get sooooo comfortable" no matter where you are, and rather sweep things under the rug and pretend. Thank you.

Jose, I have to disagree with your premise that Linda should not inform the community about crime. La Manz is a small community, the natives know everyone and all that happens within the community. If you fear business being effected by the news of crime, put a stop to the crime!

Rateros who prey on the residents must be dealt with by the locals. Run them out of town, beat them if necessary, call the cops if you think it will help? But don't expect the seasonal visitors or the ex-pats who live in La Manz to be quiet.

Thanks for the heads up Linda. Rojo

Yes Red, along those lines, do not blame the victim. And do not blame. Laurisa...sure and be courageous, and as clever as hell and awake. Speaking to robbers: Loving parents and a decent education do well for a person, also! If you haven't got either one, one has to scrap one's way through, guessing how to be. Plenty of people make it through, against all odds!

Don't you worry Linda. We'll be there this Sunday and we can get to potting up some stuff to grow and share and stay together on Calle Manglares and if that fails, I'll whittle you a clobbering stick!

What I posted was tongue in cheek!

A lot of people don't like stuff like this posted for various reasons.

It is best for people to know everything, good and the bad.

Prevention is cheaper than restoration.
Install a safe and motion detectors with loud siren.
It is not rocket science or expensive to protect your home.

Tongue-in-cheek

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jump to: navigation, search

Tongue-in-cheek is a figure of speech used to imply that a statement or other production is humorously or otherwise not seriously intended, and it should not be taken at face value. The facial expression typically indicates that one is joking or making a mental effort.[1] In the past, it may also have indicated contempt, but that is no longer common.

I do not see anything humorous or joking about this situation. Why say it should not be posted and then change to the majority's point of view, sounds like a politician riding the fence.

I said it for a reason, people don't like anything negative said about Mexico or LM because they have rentals and or stores. Some people like to hide the truth. The sad part is Mexico isn't what it use to be and for that matter the US isn't the same either. The world has changed and it sure in the hell isn't for the better. IMHO

In My Humble (Honest) Opinion, as in "Speaking IMHO" - A disclaimer of sorts, used on blogs, message boards, forums etc.; used to clarify that the statement being made should not be quoted as a fact, but only as an opinion.

Linda,
I am moving up the road just past your house soon and had all the security beefed up there before this happened.
I highly recommend Israel. He is young, professional, and very smart. He will come to your house and look over the vulnerable points of entry and give you a plan that fits whatever budget you have.
I am so grateful to have such excellent service. He is a hard working young entrepreneur of La Manzanilla and I would like to support his business. I would recommend him highly to anyone interested.

But wait, there's more!
Israel and his brother Enrique, who I was giving the plug for in my earlier post, knocked on the door just after I posted. They had 400 pesos for me and told me that I paid them too much. If that's not enough to restore everyone's faith in the people of this town, I don't know what is.

If you are interested, their email is Israel.Jimenez.Rodriguezaroba@hotmail.com

Cell phones: 315-112-6881
315-107-5612

In addition to security, they also make all kinds of custom and unique wrought iron furniture.
