Do we have any police in town? It sounds like break in season has started, with another one in the last day or so, and there were no police around to call.

Thank you Sherri for the information. I guess it is time to visit our Delegado, Fermin, to see what is happening with police. I will let you know what I find. I am medium hopeful, Cruz

Whoa! We have no police in town as the patrol cars here and in Miguel Hidalgo are down and we don't know for how long. LM Secretary is looking into the information for us and why it is that La Huerta does not send the motorcycle crew down.

What should we do? Cruz

PS Also there is no phone service to the Delegado or the police here. I'll talk to the emergency crews to see what they can do to help comunication.

Community! The good people of La Manzanilla! Get rid of the thieves! You know who they are.

I live on a small island in the PNW. Pop. 2300. We had a couple show up last fall (the suitcase people). They had robbed and stolen cars up the I-5 corridor before arriving in our little hamlet and wreaking havoc. They ended up in jail by the winter time and by early spring, after their release, the citizens of the island forced them out by social media, and posters of the thieves at prominent local spots. They quickly disappeared into the ethers.

The La Manzanilla townspeople WILL loose a lot in tourista revenue if gringos stop coming because of robberies.

Yes, Police

Hola, good news. We will have police back either tomorrow or Monday. The only glitch is whether the phone is back in service and when.

The phone number to the police and Delegado's office , when it gets paid, is 315 351 5048 .

In case the phone is not up, one can call the Emergency number, 315 112 4048. This connects you with Francisco, our ambulance driver who also assists people with other problems and emergencies. This number is the one found on the refrigerator magnets and Francisco can hunt down the police from his radio or try to summon the help that is needed.

We will be holding an Emergency Response meeting this coming Tuesday evening, probably in the Delegado's office. We'll confirm the day, time and place in a couple of days. Anyone interested in the topic is invited. I think our security and safety needs attention and the community needs to know what is available. Also, LM needs to be ready for our tourist season.

A special thank you goes to our active Secretary, Gaby, who got the ball rolling. Somehow, La Huerta forgets that we are a tourist and expat community which needs active surveillance. We tourists and expats are the lifeline, unfortunately, here in LM and we should at least know that our safety is of concern to La Huerta and the local leadership. A little give and take.

I guess the season has begun, Cruz

PS: We are not ignoring that locals also need the presence of police, protection, I hope.

Most of all, thank you Cruz, for stepping up to the plate and sorting this out. And you're right, it also affects the locals. What would we do without you?
