Can anyone tell me the best and closest place to buy some decent champagne? We will be in la Manzanilla for a wedding next month and need to be able to buy some champagne somewhere.

It is not sweet at all. Mexican but Method Champenoise. You can find it in Melaque but any of the bigger shops in La Manzanilla might have it or get it in for you. Try the shop where the V is in the village. Name escapes me. Help someone.

There are several liquor stores in Melaque that handle wine and champagne. One right off the side street by the jardin in Melaque and Hawaii
on the main street going into town. Look around you will find them here and there.

Try Chambrule - think it's made by La Cetto. Highly recommended. Brings back some fun memories of sipping it with Peter and Judy. Good times for sure.

You need to go to Abarrotes y Licores Asturiana in Melaque. Take the turn off of the carretera as if you were going to Super Hawaii (passing by the plaza), but then take your first right before the plaza and they are just on your right up the street a bit. You will save a fortune compared to Lidia or anyone else in La Manzanilla. They are a nice family, too. Ask for a case discount and you will probably get 10% off as well.

We shop at A y LA also. They have a good selection. Having said that, my experience is that Lidia's prices are not that much higher. Also, she will order anything you want. You might get it 'fresher' that way.
