Anyone know where I can get a handful of worms. I'd like to start raising them to make worm juice for my plants. Thanks.

Dobie HI!

Steve and I are looking for a place for December and Jan. in La Mans, if we manage at this late date to find anything I'll be glad to bring you a bagful vs. a handful (ha!) from San Miguel. If not I assume Tina will be headed your way at some point and I can send them with her.

We still haven't topped your yogurt.

We'll look forward to seeing you if we find lodging.

saludos
Nicole

I have heard of worm castings for plants, but that is worm digested soil. I have never heard of grinding up worms to feed plants except maybe those that trap and eat bugs.

Just curious.

Hi Dobie,
I know someone who sells worm juice in Los Injenos. Perhaps you could talk him into giving/selling you a few worms. Good luck!

Daveeeeed - I'm not planning to grind up the worms, what drains out of the container the worms are in (along with their food) is called worm juice.
MaryJo - how can I contact the person in Los Ingenios? Thanks.

Dobie,

I've been doing worm composting for many years here in LM. I brought my first colony (correct collective noun ??? perhaps a 45 person long thread on the MB will ensue) of 1000 here and it grew beyond belief (actually Willy and Kimberly brought if for me driving). Since we did not plan on anyone taking care of them this off season when we were in Colorado, I gave most of the colony to Herb and Katie here in LM. But, as I returned, I did see some life in my worm composting bins. I'm trying to grow my population back and it is coming back with lots of good kitchen scraps and coffee to keep them up and reproducing. I'll ask Herb if he could spare a soft-ball size group. That size of group is about 500 or so. You'd be amazed at how quickly they populate. They can go/grow like mad in numbers and we get rid of all of our kitchen scraps, both here and in Denver, like mad.

Ok that is better.

I was always let for school on rainy days ...cause I was Savin worms in the road. So grinding up my little buddies was a bit offsetting. So never mind he he.

So carry on worm growers and live long and prosper.

Rick - I used to raise worms when I lived in Ca. and I know how fast they reproduce. I'd love it if you could get me a handful. You can email me using the little white envelope. Thanks!

I'd also love some worms! I'm new to the worm bin world, but have been reading up on it for a few years. Would love to give it a go.

Happy to trade basil shoots or kale seeds for worms. I have at least a dozen 2" or taller basil shoots to find homes for.
