A great place to stay in the romantic zone and only a half dozen blocks to the bus pickup point at Aguacate & Carranza is the infamous Posada Roger. Cheap and quaint, with a great breakfast place next door and lots of restaurants around.

If I remember, the first-class Primera bus that we caught from there to Melaque left fairly early. We bought and printed our tickets online actually.
