It will be my pleasure to present a film at Casa Luz at 7:30 pm. THE WAR BETWEEN US - is about a true friendship found between two women during the second world war. The script is wonderfully written by Sharon Gibbons whose Mother lived a small mining town in central B.C. where 20,000 Japanese Canadians were interned during the second world war. The war is far away. The town was profoundly changed by the experience and this is a warm and engaging story that will connect with everybody. There is humor and wit and some fantastic performances - remarkable Robert Ito, Shannon Lawson and Mieko Ouchi. Please come. Bring light camping chairs if you have them. We often run out of seating room...or bring cushions. Thanks, Anne

Anne didn't mention here that she is the director of this film! At the Vancouver
Film Festival, this year, her beautiful film, Bye Bye Blues, was shown twice...
and I was there for both performances. I would watch it again tomorrow,
if I could.
I won't miss this one either, for sure. See you all there...

Casa Luz is one block south of the Jardin. Walk past Martin's restaurant to the hotel at the end of the block.Turn left. We are the second door on the left. Once inside the gate take the steps to the left up to the rooftop.

Over the past two days many people have expressed their gratitude for being able to see this beautiful film.
Thank you everyone for making this such a successful and enjoyable event. And especially thank you Anne Wheeler for sharing your work with all of us.
Anne has made a donation of a good portion of the money collected to a local family in need.

Anne, if you get the rigths to the film, I hope you can invest in a better DVD than the one you used. It was stopped many times, and the sound was cut off also many times. Thanks again
