starving dog

Posted by Lisa Lawrence on January 22, 2015, 2:39 pm

I saw a very skinny young dog up by the pig farm yesterday. I leave tomorrow and wonder if there is a person that would want to nurse this little one back to health. A very sweet dog. It was so skinny it fell over. I am not sure if it is owned by the man that runs the pig farm or not. Any ideas? Thanks, LIsa

Does he happen to be white with dark ears. He showed up at our house about 2 weeks ago. I fed him and was going to take him in to get him ready for the Cisco's clinic in a few weeks, but more bombs went off and he disappeared.

Thank you everyone. My friends Steve and Shann also posted notes around about this dog. She is small but not tiny, young. Brown, golden color with large ears. She was very emaciated, ribs showing, sunken stomach. She fell over trying to turn. She appeared to be friendly and sweet, good coat. I wish I had just picked her up and brought her to town. Steve looked for her today too and couldn't find her. Thanks, Lisa

Yesterday afternoon after 4pm, I went out to the old pig farm(where Daniels map indicates) and there was a small brown dog with big ears standing in the middle of the empty pens. She was OK but very thin.
I found Martine(owner of the restaurant) who lives right up the hill from there and he knows that dog and told me she had an owner very close by.
Could this possibly be the dog?? There are a lot of very skinny dogs around and many have survived distemper that have problems walking, etc.
There is a new pig farm on the other side of the river that I also stopped and asked about a starving dog. No one has seem another one.

Thanks Julie! I am on the ferry, soon to arrive on my little island. I appreciate the sense of community in LaManzanilla and your help Julie with this little pup. I hope she thrives! Adios and see you next year.

I went out there again this morning and as luck would have it the pig farm's owner (owns Chono's across the street from Yolanda's- yes, the same owner as the recovering sick white dog and the big black dog) was there and so was the starving dog. He told me she showed up a while back and was now living there. He was more than happy to feed her and call her his. She's very young and has no puppies.
I will make sure she comes to the clinic to be spayed and I'll go out and give her worm medicine tomorrow.
I brought with me dog food which she turned up her nose at. The food she gets from her new owner is much more to a dog's liking (pork).
He did say she had been sick, but has recovered.
Cisco's Amigos is very glad to be able to report a very happy ending.
