I'm not sure where to start, but first it's great to be home and getting settled. The drive down from Nogales was uneventfull. The new parts of the cuota below Mazatlan are great, but the drive where it ends to the turn off to San Blas is as bad as ever-more and more trucks. La Manz looks a little shabby from all the piled up debris on the beach and in the streets. There won't be any driving across the laguna to the camp ground for quite a long time. The water is probably 3 feet deep at the spot where the road used to be. The crocs have no place to sun except right at the ocean. We hear they have been seen there. The sewer is actually up and ready. Today Morgan was overseeing the extension of the line up the little alley right below our house. The raw sewerage from the hotel was fillling the trench as fast as they dug it. What a great improvment for our ocean water quality this will be when all is done. The Green Party won the last election in La Huerta(surprised?). I hear there was a lot of money spent to get this unknown person elected. It will be interesting to see what does and doesn't happen. Haven't been too far from home so I can't report on any road conditions up the hills-the streets on the flats are bad enough. It feels very hot to us, but coming from the cold north it's not surprising. It's great to be here and once again see the very green hills! Nan thanks for the donation. I'll call soon. PS: We have stayed in Nogales at the Motel 6 at least 5 times with no problems. If you don't get your car sticker in Nogales or Sonoyta you could be in for a big hassle. I have no idea of what a "free zone" is, but traveling south thru Sinaloa is impossible without a car sticker. And ALWAYS remember to have your sticker removed by the Mexican official at the border when you return North. Their computers know ALL. In our 8 crossings we have had more hassles at Sonoyta than Nogales. In Sonoyta we were pulled over even after getting the green light. We always go Nogales now and it's been really easy. |
