That's a really scary scenario - snakes and toads you could only see when lightning struck - yuck!! It wasn't nearly that exciting here but two hours of wind, rain, thunder and lightning scared the _*#!__ out of our cats. They're still slinking around on their bellies, just waiting for the next loud noise. I wondered why we hadn't heard from you two today, because we never did lose power - sorry you were without it for so long. Overcast skies all day produced no rain until about 7PM. Total rainfall since midnight has been only .39 of an inch, but total for the two days adds up to 2.40 inches. That brings our year-to-date total to 35.5 inches - and it's certainly possible that we'll get at least a little more this month. We're surrounded with unstable weather and NOAA is monitoring several low pressure systems near the coast which may develop into tropical storms in the next few days. At this point, I have mixed emotions about the rain. One one hand, I know it's helping to replenish the L.M. aquifer - on the other hand, I'm ready for the cooler, dry season to kick in. |
