Years ago in England, we took big garbage pales and filled them with organic material. We made a hole in the bottom and put in a tap. We then purchased a tin of red worms that one used for fishing and dumped them in. ( I believe any worms would do) We had about three cooking at the same time. Not only can you then use the compost that these worms love to munch but, the liquid from the bottom that we got off the tap made amazing natural fertilizer for plants. The pales were put up on several bricks so one could put a bucket under the tap for the liquid. If you have a lid, you won't be inviting other animals and providing it has no meat etc it won't smell. The worms multiply and before you know it, you have an amazing home grown cooking compost pot. We were thrilled. One must be able to buy worms here. This is really fun. |
