As for the viewing platform for property, I was taking photos of my land when the idea came to me that the cell tower would be the perfect place to get an over all shot from. I drove down to the cell tower, there was a crew there just finishing the barbed wire around the fencing. I told the boss that I wanted to climb the cell tower. He looked at me and asked "what if you fall?" I said that I would not fall and he responded with "go ahead". I think I was half hoping that he would not let me as that thing is 100 meters (300 feet) high! So I start up the ladder and get about 1/3 of the way up. I pause to rest and looking down realize that I am already very far up from the ground! I look up and I still have so far to go that the ladder narrows to a point way up there. I think to my self "self, do you really want to do this?" Self says "go for it you idiot, you have been scaring the hell out of yourself your entire life, why change now?" I choose to concentrate solely on the ladder and promise myself not to look up or down simply to do one rung at a time with full concentration on only that one rung, and not to think about the face that I am only wearing sandals, not the best footwear for ladder climbing. I finally get to the top, I was right, it is damn high and quite scary! Now I want to get to the platform which surrounds the tower so I can take some good photos, but the platform is about 3 to 4 feet away from the ladder and I don't see how the people who normally do climb this ladder get to it. I rest a while knowing that if I stand there long enough I will get used to being scared to death and may have the nerve to walk across this steel beam to the platform. I manage to hook my arm around the rung of the ladder and take the photos I want without having to do the really scary crossover. You can see some of the photos here. It still makes my hands feel weird to think about walking across that beam so high off the ground. http://www.costaalegreproperties.com/e_la_manzanilla_land_195_1.html Note: you can the cell tower from the property on page 1. I then climb down the ladder with equal caution as I used in climbing up and was once again on the ground. The workers looked at me like I was nuts, I thanked them and drove away with the adrenalin still pumping, not a bad rush considering it cost nothing and was so close to home. Conclusion, just sell permission to do what I did, I think you would make some good bucks. Adios for now, D |
