Dear Citizens, First, I would like to thank everyone who has been supportive of our efforts, especially those that have helped host and disperse the petition, and Daniel for maintaining this critiical discussion site. We are nowhere without community backing. Second, I would like to report that we spoke in front of the Ejido today at the assembly and it went over quite well. It is obvious from all comments that we received that many Ejido members share our same concerns. Not only Ejido members. Numerous local community members have signed the petition as well. After all, this campaign is about much more than foreigners coming in and trying to change things. We all share the same planet, and we are blessed to share one of its sweetest slices here in La Manzanilla. Besides, we--those that wrote this petition--are not just foreigners. We are working with some of Mexico´s best educators, researchers, and conservationists. Also, I would like to report that the NGO, Instituto de Derecho Ambiental (IDEA A.C.), which translates as "Environmental Law Institute", out of Guadalajara, has agreed to help us with this campaign. In addition, we are garnering support from other Mexican and international NGOs. So, given the fact that we need extra time to work with this important NGO on the filing of the petition, we are still waiting for more support letters to come in from other supporting NGOs, and we still have signatures coming in, we are going to hold off at least another week on the filing of the petition. Thank you for your patience. It is critical that we do this with the utmost efficacy if we hope to succeed. Thus, I want to announce that: THE PETITION WILL CONTINUE TO BE OPEN FOR SIGNING AT THE LOCATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN SPECIFIED, AND IN NEIGHBORHOODS NEAR YOU FOR AT LEAST THE NEXT WEEK. Thanks!
