Thank you all so very much for making this clinic one of the best ever. Our Vets, Yolanda and Ester, were tired but left with a feeling of joy and warmness for La Manzanilla and all of it's people like never before. |
In total we spayed and neutered 136 dogs and cats. Almost as many males as females were done-a very surprising statistic to some. We trapped 20 feral cats, spayed or neutered them and then released them to where they were trapped. All animals were given rabies and distemper shots, Frontline, worm medicine and other medical help. We had many return patients who received all of the above. Of course -all was free.
During this clinic we operated on #1,000. Many of you know Adrian. His adorable little friend, Sasha, was the lucky 1000. She received a beautiful new collar, matching leash and a months worth of food. Adrian got a great T-shirt donated by the Mendocino Humane Society. The shirt says “it takes two to tango”-spay and neuter!
The list of helpers has grown to the point that I can’t put all of your names here, but there are a few that need special thanks, like Pam, who took over recovery this year and was AMAZING. What would we do without her? Katherine, organized the volunteers (something I was never good at). She did an outstanding job. Carlos, Raul, and Alex helped Y&E in surgery and I think we have a new Vet student in the wings. Valerie stepped in where she was really needed as a Vet Tech-thank you very much. Kate, as always, has a very needy friend she will be helping for the next few weeks.
And lastly, Rusty- how he puts up with me the weeks before and then during the clinic is beyond my comprehension.
And by the way, the black dog was not “lost from the clinic”. He never arrived. We are very proud that NOT one Dog (only one cat) has been misplaced from our clinics both here or in Melaque. I’m sorry that this happened, but it was not our fault.
Thank you all for your support. The people and animals of La Manzanilla really appreciate it! And can’t you tell the difference!!
