OK, so the demand is there. We will contact our vet in Melaque and put the order in for more little chicks. I think we should double our order. BTW, anyone can have a couple of chickens. You don't need a rooster to have eggs!!!! The rooster is only necessary for breeding purposes. Not many people realize that. If you have a couple of hens, you just need a coup which can be very rustic, some scratch area AND, they don't make any noise. Well a little bit on laying but this is in the morning, not in the middle of the night. All our scraps from the kitchen go to our birds with the exception of some things. They are really wonderful animals to have and the better you treat them the better the eggs. Usually two chickens give us more eggs than we can use in one week. If you decide to undertake this fun hobby, get your chicks and when you leave in the summer (providing they are healthy) you can deposit them with us. We can give you any advice when you get down here for getting started. We have been doing it for years. They really don't need a lot of space and don't have to smell if you take care of them properly. Food for thought. |
