Lots of great ideas. Thanks. Now all we need is the motivation to get the garden started. Right now the lot is being filled with clean fill. Before we leave in June I'm hoping to have a part of it covered with goat manure and turned. I'm sure we'll have an amazing crop of weeds once it rains. That should get some composting going right in the planting area. Hopefully by late October we could put in a few things and start seeing what happens!! Bananas are a must and I'm sure they'll grow, but it will be a year before we get a crop. I was amazed to see ORGANIC bananas in LA. Typically they are supposed to be one of the worse crops as far as pesticides. It's all in the thinking stages so wish us luck! I had an organic garden in California for 25 years which provided all of our veggies during our growing season-June through october. I loved being able to share with my friends. |
