I think I'm becoming Mexicanized. The rockets at dawn hardly penetrate my consciousness anymore until a silky little cat, who only feels safe when she's crawled under the covers after the first boom, slides down my legs to the bottom of the bed. This morning I walked out onto the lanai just before dawn and watched some very impressive lightning offshore, accompanied by high, clear voices coming from the church below.- no other sound in the puebla - just those beautiful voices. A magical L.M. summer morning. The satellite at 7 AM showed a large red blob coming up the coast which really got my attention so I ran around closing windows and pulling furniture away from the railings. It seemed to promise a stormy day and stormy it is, with a heavy overcast, but the rain so far has been light and the main convection has now moved offshore. I'd guess there will be more rain at some point today but maybe nothing very exciting. The breeze is really cool and refreshing, although it still feels a little like being in a sauna.
