July was the most unusual summer month I've seen to date. Here are the figures: average temp: High: 86F/30C Low: 78.5F/25.8C average humidity: High: 77.7% Low: 71.1% total rainfall: 15.89 inches (now it's confirmed that Boca gets a lot more rain than L.M.) Here are the rainfall totals from 2004 to present: 2004: 20.14 inches 2005: 25.4 " 2006: 37.42 " 2007: 32.11 " It does seem that we're heading into a different weather pattern for the summer months and one which can't come too soon for La Manzanilla's much depleted aquifer. Since the majority of our rainfall usually occurs during August and September, it will be interesting to see what this year's total turns out to be. The other unusual statistic is that the Eastern Pacific has already had 10 named storms this season, 4 of which became hurricanes. None affected us in a negative way but two did produce some of the rain which made this month so much cooler and more comfortable than previous Julys. |
