I know for sure about the summer of 1995 since we were building our Villa Montana up above the Rutherford's. Yes Bob, that was the summmer of the earthquake and sunami that hit La Manzanilla and destroyed mnay homes in the lower lying areas. The surge went back 2 to 2/1/2 blocks in and out several times. Two jolts lasting many seconds each. 6.9 I think. After that lots of folks rolled in from San Miguel and started the regentrification process you see today. I camped on the beach from 86-93 doing week long kayaking trips. We cut the first kayaking paths through the lagoon all the way back to the big pool at the time. Kayaked almost daily amoungst the crocs- weren't that many then.

Ah the good ole days!
