WARNING -- INSURANCE WITH SYLVIA & MIGUEL JARAMILLO LARES

On 2 Feb. 2008, Lew and I believed we had purchased a GNP auto insurance policy from Sylvia & Miguel Jaramillo Lares. We had given Sylvia approximately $7,000 pesos MN cash for one year's coverage, and were handed the GNP paperwork. In January 2009, we decided to purchase an ABA policy, using another agent who was recommended to us by close Mexican friends. We found out that Sylvia had never purchased the policy she had sold us, but instead had purchased a much cheaper ABA policy for us one month after we were supposed to have started the GNP insurance. She never informed us, nor gave us a refund for the difference. IN SUMMARY: 1) Sylvia and Miguel Jaramillo Lares never purchased the GNP insurance we had paid them cash for. We were totally uncovered for the month of February 2008, leaving us vulnerable to legal distress in case of an accident. We went a year holding GNP paperwork, which was invalid. 2) Sylvia pocketed approximately $7,000 pesos, and then bought a $1,000 peso cheaper ABA policy, making installment payments instead of giving them all the cash she had received from us. 3) Sylvia and Miguel Jaramillo Lares have refused to answer questions about their actions, despite repeated attempts to contact them.
