cars in Mex?

I just bought a home in La M. Am now in US and coming down soon. My full time home will be in La M. I need advice on cars in Mex. Am told car must be exactly 10 yrs old to register there. Right? Have no car in US now, so don't know whether to buy one now and drive it down now--need to know what I can register there--or wait and get one later.

My problem is that I have no vehicle here now and and need wheels. Currently borrowing one, but she needs it back soon. I still have some 'packing' to do. If I get one now, will I have probs at the border/in Mex if it's not registered and want to keep it there? Logistics?
