Daniel you are almost on the money here!! My reference here is a book from Shelter Press by a Dutch architect who has lived for years in the Tropics of Brazil. He's published a pretty well known book- The Barefoot Architect, a handbook for Green Building. Pages 196-197 deals with building for pest and insect control in the humid tropics. He says that if you take similar glass bottles (your collection of Corralejo) and embed them in the concrete foundation pour with the bottle bottoms all upturned and level as your foundation first row, then fill the floor with sand level to the bottles, this is the only super slick surface that a scorp. won't be able to grasp. Only good for one story homes as the weight of another floor would crack the bottles.

It would also look pretty cool if you woke up after having passed out on the floor and saw the blue light coming in at floor level all around the room, try and picture it. bink
