Carol, Dolphin fish/Dorado/Mahi appear to have peak spawning late summer early fall. They are broadcast spawners, so the eggs and milt are released and the fertilized eggs drift in the water column until they hatch. The larval fish also drift with the current until they are large enough to swim on their own. They grow very fast, reaching sexual maturity at 4 to 5 months. Here is a link with more info. http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov/fishwatch/species/dolphinfish.htm cheers! |
