Thanks for the information.

I definitely know about mosquitos but dengue fever is not something I want to deal with while I am away from home. At present I am searching for alternative destinations if need be.

One thing I observed while living on an island with lots of mosquitos in the summer, was to avoid eating sugar, wearing perfume and using scented soap. Also seems that if you load your system with garlic, it acts as a repellant.

I was rarely bitten or at least did not react in a big way. It seemed the little pests actually preferred city folks. New blood???

Has anyone noticed that what you ingest or what you wear has anything to do with whether or not mosquitos bite? Can I buy citronella in La Mans?

Yes, you do have to consider what this pest does to the local economy. There is a limit to the risk and discomfort a tourist will endure. However, as a child who grew up with DDT, I can tell you that it is as unpleasant as the mosquito. As with most things, prevention is the key. Time to mobilize the locals to keep La Manz clean and dry.

Thanks for keeping me posted,
Diana
